Does SoundCloud Mastering Work for DJ Mixes?

The Short Answer

No. SoundCloud's mastering service, powered by Dolby, is limited to songs. SoundCloud's help centre says it doesn't support DJ mixes or podcasts, and that mastering is limited to tracks under 10 minutes.

This comes from SoundCloud's Mastering Eligibility page, which we checked on 6 October 2026. SoundCloud can change these limits, so check that page before you rely on them.

What SoundCloud's Mastering Covers

  • Songs only. DJ mixes and podcasts aren't supported.
  • Under 10 minutes. SoundCloud says it will consider longer tracks if you contact them.
  • WAV, FLAC or MP3, up to an 88.2 kHz sample rate. AIFF files aren't accepted.
  • Content you own. You must own 100% of the rights in the track. SoundCloud scans mastered tracks with its content ID system, and a match gets the track blocked.

Why That Rules Out Most DJ Mixes

A DJ mix usually runs well past ten minutes, and it is built from other artists' tracks. A full set can run an hour or more, and SoundCloud's rights rule applies to every part of what you submit. In SoundCloud's words, "mastering content created by someone else runs the risk of having that track removed from your account."

What SoundCloud Suggests for Mixes

For DJ mixes, SoundCloud's page says you "actually want normalization." SoundCloud normalizes loudness on playback, so the numbers to hit are the ones it recommends for tracks: -14 LUFS integrated, with true peak below -1 dBTP, or below -2 dBTP if the mix is louder than -14. The LUFS targets guide has the details.

How to Master a DJ Mix Instead

There are two realistic routes:

  • Do it in your DAW. A light EQ, gentle compression and a limiter, checked against a loudness meter. The guide to mastering a DJ mix maps this onto Ableton Live, Audacity, FL Studio and Logic Pro.
  • Use a tool built for mixes. Acetate masters the whole mix on your own machine, with no length limit. It treats the set as a sequence of transitions that you can audition before you export, and it publishes straight to your own SoundCloud account. The download includes one free master, then it is a one-time $63.
